Research Overview

Dr Ramakrishna’s recent research projects have been in the domain of pulmonary hypertension and right heart failure, such as evaluating the physiology of exercise limitation in patients with advanced chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and pulmonary hypertension to determine whether there exists a role for therapy with advanced pulmonary vasodilator medication.

Prior research projects include studying the effect of yogurt on bowel flora and secretory IgA in critically ill patients (2010-2011), and HSP gene polymorphisms, cytokine gene expression and outcomes in ICU patients with sepsis (2009-2010). Both of these projects were supported by the CMC Fluid Research Fund.
