With profound sadness, we share the news that Lynn Yeakel, the visionary director of the Institute for Women's Health and Leadership and Betty A. Cohen Chair in Women's Health, passed away January 13 after a brief illness. An article about her life of extraordinary accomplishment in pursuit of equality for women was published in the Philadelphia Inquirer on January 15, 2022.

Lynn was the founder of the Woman One Award and Scholarship Fund, the D. Walter Cohen Shared Leadership Scholarship, the Sex and Gender Research Forum and Conversations About Women's Health. She brought the prestigious national Marion Spencer Fay Award to the Institute and created the VisionForward (formerly Vision 2020) women's equality initiative. She was committed to the Institute's core mission of honoring the past, enriching the present and shaping the future, and creating programs to help women everywhere live more fulfulling lives.

At the 2022 Woman One award ceremony honoring Lynn, it was announced that the Institute would be renamed the Lynn Yeakel Institute for Women's Health and Leadership in recognition of her tireless efforts in the realm of gender equity and women's leadership.
