Clinical Background
Zakaria Hakma, MD, is a cerebrovascular/endovascular neurosurgeon. He is among an elite group of dual-trained vascular neurosurgeons able to perform conventional neurosurgery as well as minimally invasive endovascular neurosurgery.
Dr. Hakma serves as medical director of the Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit at Capital Health System, which has one of the nation’s largest dedicated neurosurgical ICUs.
Following an internship in internal medicine, Dr. Hakma completed residencies in both neurology and neurosurgery at Temple University , where he was chief resident. Dr. Hakma completed a fellowship in cerebrovascular/endovascular neurosurgery and neurocritical care at Capital Health System’s Stroke and Cerebrovascular Center, under the direction of Erol Veznedaroglu, MD, FACS, FAANS, FAHA.
