For Graduate Students - Spring Quarter 2022

Welcome new graduate students and welcome back returning students!

As we begin the spring term, the Graduate College would like to remind you of a few important academic policies, dates, deadlines and resources to help you navigate your academic program. We recommend you bookmark this information for future reference.

Please continue to refer to Drexel’s Response to Coronavirus website for the latest guidance on masking, vaccination, FAQs, and for contact information should you have any questions.

Graduate College Operations

The Graduate College office on the 3rd floor of the Main Building (Main 301) is open for student services between 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. EDT Monday through Friday. We offer free filtered cold and hot water for tea, coffee, and hot chocolate for graduate students. Please contact us via email at graduatecollege@drexel.edu for questions or to schedule an appointment. Walk-ins are also welcome to check in using the kiosk at the front desk.

The Graduate Student Lounge on the lower level of Main Building (Main 010A) is open 24/7 and accessible to all graduate students via their DragonCard ID. Students are welcome to use the lounge space for social gathering, studying, eating, and events. More information about the lounge is available on the Graduate College website. Please note that new, incoming students will gain access to the lounge during the first week of classes.

Please refer to the Academic Calendars on the Provost’s website for all academic dates and deadlines which are subject to change. You should also consult with your individual college or school officials and assigned graduate academic advisor(s) for additional dates, deadlines and requirements.

Monday, March 28– Classes Begin*
Wednesday, March 30 by 4 p.m. EDT – Deadline to Submit a Graduate Program Completion Form for Winter Quarter Graduates (Required for doctoral and some Master’s thesis programs)
Friday, April 1 – Deadline to Confirm Your Enrollment in your DrexelOne
Friday, April 1 – Deadline to Add/Drop a Course with Academic Advisor Assistance*
Sunday, April 3 by 11:59 p.m. ET – Deadline to Add/Drop a Course in DrexelOne*
Friday, April 29 – Deadline to Submit an Application for Degree in DrexelOne for Spring Quarter Graduation, please see “Graduation Dates & Deadlines” below
Week of May 2 – Summer Quarter Registration Begins (Review Your Time Ticket Information)
Friday, May 13 – Deadline to Withdraw from a Course with Academic Advisor Assistance*
Monday, May 30 – Memorial Day (University Holiday)
Saturday, June 4 – Last Day of Classes*
Monday, June 6 – Term Examinations Begin*
Saturday, June 11 – Term Examinations End*
Saturday, June 11 – Spring Quarter Degree Conferral Date (Date that appears on diploma)
Friday, June 17 – Academic Standing Notices Sent (See Graduate Academic Standing Policy)

Graduation Dates & Deadlines

The following information is for Drexel graduate students enrolled in quarter programs who intend to complete their program/degree requirements and graduate this spring or summer term, and who wish to participate in Commencement 2022. Please review Graduation Deadlines 2022 for more information.

***Friday, April 29 – Deadline to Submit an Application for Degree in DrexelOne for Spring Quarter Graduation and to participate in Commencement 2022, including walkthroughs from Summer Quarter, please review Graduation Deadlines 2022
Tuesday, June 7 at 5 p.m. EDT – Doctoral Student Celebration (for graduating doctoral candidates only)
Wednesday, June 8 & Thursday, June 9 – Individual College/School Commencement Ceremonies
Thursday, June 9 at 6 p.m. EDT – University-wide Commencement Ceremony at Citizens Bank Park
Saturday, June 11 – Spring Quarter Degree Conferral Date (Date that appears on diploma)
Friday, July 15 – Diploma Address Change Deadline (See bottom of degree application page for instructions)

Academic Policies & Procedures

Please refer to the academic policies and procedures listed on both the Provost’s and Graduate College websites. Additional policies are outlined in the Student Code of Conduct, including the Academic Integrity policy and conduct process. All students should be aware of and knowledgeable of these policies and procedures. Please review frequently for updates.

International students (F-1 and J-1) should refer to the latest updates, policies and information on the International Students & Scholars Services (ISSS) website.

Academic Standing: Graduate Students – Academic Standing is determined each term that a student is registered for classes and is based on both the term and cumulative GPA. A student’s academic standing is reflected on their permanent academic transcript. A graduate student must maintain a minimum 3.00 term and cumulative GPA to progress toward graduation. Please note that individual programs may set higher standards. Please click on the policy for definitions, actions and requirements.

Religious Observances Policy & Calendar

Join us for the Drexel Emerging Graduate Scholars Conference – April 13 & 14

The Graduate Student Association, in partnership with the Graduate College and Office of Research and Innovation, will host the sixth annual Drexel Emerging Graduate Scholars (DEGS) Conference, a free, student-run, University-wide conference highlighting Drexel's graduate student research enterprise April 13 & 14! This year’s conference will be held in a hybrid format with opportuities for both in-person and virtual networking and engagement. More information can be found on the DEGS website. Register.

2022 Graduate Student Excellence Awards

The Graduate College is pleased to recognize graduate and professional students for outstanding mentorship, civic engagement, scholarship, service, research, and teaching assistance through it's Graduate Student Excellence Awards. Select awards allow for peer or self-nominations. Visit the website to review the criteria and submit a nomination by April 22.

Resources & Opportunities for Graduate Students

Follow the Graduate College via our website and social media (Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn) for the latest news, events, and opportunities for graduate students.

Visit Drexel University’s Information Technology (DUIT) website to get connected or to contact the IT Help Desk.
Get acquainted with Drexel Learn, Drexel’s fully-supported learning management system and Zoom video conferencing.
Visit the Business Services website for information about obtaining or updating your DragonCard photo ID, parking, and campus dining and retail services.
Review Campus Maps and Directions.
Get involved in the Graduate Student Association, International Graduate Student Association, and graduate student organizations and look for their upcoming events in DragonLink.

Review the commuter and off-campus student resources offered by Student Life, including transportation information, computer labs and printing, and lockers.
Review the information on the Public Safety website, including walking escorts and emergency phone numbers you should save in your phone.
Review Drexel’s Information Security team resources, best practices and available training to learn how to protect your information and avoid scams.
Visit the Drexel University Libraries website for the latest updates, as well as fully online resources and services.
The Center for Learning and Academic Success Services (CLASS) offers peer and professional academic coaching for graduate students, as well as virtual and on-campus academic workshops.

The Drexel Writing Center provides support through its Graduate Writing Consultants for all writing projects.
Students seeking information or accommodations for a documented disability should register with Disability Resources. Also see information about policies and reporting from the Office of Equality and Diversity (OED).

Students seeking information about applying for competitive national and international fellowships, such as Fulbright, should consult Fellowships Advising.
Utilize the Health and Wellness Resources available for graduate students, including SupportLinc, our newest 24/7 support service for graduate students, their families, and household members.
Invited to present your work at a meeting or conference, including virtually/online? Apply for a Teck-Kah Lim Graduate Student Travel Subsidy Award.
Qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for the GSA’s Health Insurance Deductible Subsidy for up to $100 back toward their Drexel Aetna student health insurance deductible.
