      The Steinbright Career Development CenterOffice of Postdoctoral Affairs and Professional Development, and Graduate College invite graduate students and postdocs to participate in an eight-week summer career bootcamp: "Effective Career Planning for PhDs".

      The bootcamp will meet weekly for two hours, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. ET, for eight weeks, beginning Monday, June 26. The bootcamp is designed to equip attendees with the skills, resources, and self-assessment information to make informed career choices within and beyond academia. This course is adapted from the pd|hub Collections, an NIH-funded collection of evidence-based practices to support PhD students' professional development. Participation in this pilot program is free! Registration is open until June 5 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

      While the course is designed for PhD students and postdocs, space permitting, professional doctorate and master's students without co-op experience are welcome to register.

      Educating for Peace, Social Justice, and Human Rights (EDGI 550) taught by Kathlyn Elliott will be open for registration for the 2023 Summer Quarter. This course is open to all Drexel graduate students. EDGI 550 is an interdisciplinary course that provides an overview of peace and human rights education including history, theories, and pedagogy. This course will highlight current events such as the ongoing protests in Iran and anti-trans legislation in the United States, and how to tie these important political topics into the classroom. Last year, EDGI 550 received rave reviews and was a must-take course for Graduate students interested in education!

      Graduate Students Make an Impact at 2023 AAAS Meeting

      April 27, 2023

      "For the first time, Drexel University sponsored the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS)'s annual meeting, which brings together experts, leaders and influencers in all areas of science. The 2023 meeting focused on 'Science for Humanity' and featured groundbreaking multi-disciplinary research.

      Drexel’s student researchers showcased their impact on the world of science by displaying posters on social sciences, brain and behavioral studies, developmental biology and more. While Drexel faculty and experts discussed research with peers and made new connections with colleagues, Drexel graduate and undergraduate students left a mark on the E-poster competition and took home 17 of the 39 awards, including 10 first place awards and seven honorable mentions."

    • Tyler Andres-Bray

      PhD Student Wins First Place Oral Research Presentation at 2023 DEGS Conference

      April 27, 2023

      Meet Tyler! Tyler Andres-Bray is a fourth-year PhD student in biological sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences. He is originally from Charlotte, North Carolina, and received his bachelor's degree with distinction from Duke University in biology with a focus in animal behavior. He earned a master's degree in animal behavior and conservation from the City University of New York.

      Tyler recently presented his research on "Environmentally-Mediated Termite Behavior Shapes Seasonality of Chimpanzee Termite Fishing in Mbam & Djerem National Park, Cameroon," at the 2023 Drexel Emerging Scholars Conference. He was awarded the Provost’s Award for Best Virtual Oral Research Presentation!

      PhD Student Advocate and Mentor Recognized For Accomplishments

      April 11, 2023

      In addition to her research, Sarah Malik, fourth year PhD student in mechanical engineering and mechanics in the College of Engineering is an engaged member of the Drexel and graduate student communities and has a long list of accomplishments. She is a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow, Drexel’s first attendee of the Rising Stars in Mechanical Engineering workshop hosted by Stanford University, and is the first graduate student on the IEEE Computer Society’s Publication Board. She is a member of the College of Engineering Dean’s Student Leadership Council leading initiatives around investigating perceptions of Drexel and is an active advocate of academic support for graduate students. Malik received an outstanding mentorship award for her dedication in mentoring both junior graduate and undergraduate students and she was selected as one of eight graduate students in the College of Engineering to received a 2023 Koerner Award for her work in Smart Cities & Integration. Malik is also a member of the inaugural cohort of Nina Henderson Provost Fellows. She is working on two projects, "Lifelong Learning and the Future of Higher Education" and "Innovation Engine and Culture at Drexel: Best Practices and an Integrated Review".

      PhD Candidate Receives Inaugural Internship Scholarship

      March 02, 2023

      Lashae Williams, PhD candidate in clinical psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences, received an inaugural Internship Scholarship from the Black Society for Neuropsychology. She is one of two trainees to receive this award which eases the financial burden of the internship application process. Internship is a one-year, full-time clinical experience and one of the final degree requirements for clinical, school, and counseling psychology doctoral students. It is a match process modeled after medical school residency which requires submitting applications and participating in interviews.

      The International Graduate Student Association, in partnership with the Graduate Student Association and Graduate College, invites Drexel students to participate in the 2023 Festival of Nations! Festival of Nations is a free, University-wide celebration of international culture and tradition featuring a talent and fashion showcase, games and activities, art, and tastes of international cuisines from Drexel’s international students and organizations.


      Students and organizations interested in participating in the Festival of Nations are invited to submit to 1) perform at the talent showcase, 2) show off their cultural attire at the fashion showcase, and/or 3) host a table to showcase a game or activity from their country or culture, display a traditional art form such as calligraphy or henna, or represent their student organization.
