Our mission is to bridge the gap between scientific discovery and clinical application by 1) developing and optimizing promising therapies and 2) improving existing protocols, for the treatment of people with spinal cord injury.
More than 25 years ago, a group of faculty members joined together to study ways of treating spinal cord injury. Today, the SCRC is one of the premier Spinal Cord Injury research centers in the world.

The Lane Lab is exploring the consequences of cervical spinal cord injury and aims to develop treatments to improve recovery.
The Tom Lab is developing strategies to promote recovery of affected behaviors after acute and chronic spinal cord injury.
The Dougherty Lab explores how spinal circuits are organized to produce movements.
Students in the Neuroscience program can earn a master's or PhD, leading to careers in research, academic administration, public policy and more.
