Tech Alert: Single sign-on and licensing changes for Autodesk software starting July 1
June 12, 2025
Single sign-on (SSO) for Autodesk products starting July 1
Autodesk provides free education access to over 40 products and services, such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Fusion, Maya, Revit, and more, for personal computers and computer labs. Starting Monday, July 1, 2025, Drexel students and educators can access Autodesk software and services using Drexel Connect.
Recommended action
- If you have an existing Autodesk account with the same Drexel email address you use for Drexel Connect, your account will automatically convert to SSO when you sign in after July 1 and no action is required.
- If you have an existing Autodesk account with a different Drexel email address than you use for Drexel Connect, such as an email alias, you’ll lose access to the account when SSO is enabled. We recommend you back up any files saved in your Autodesk Drive, Vault, or other Autodesk cloud services by June 30. Files can’t be recovered after SSO is enabled.
Autodesk discontinuing network licensing starting March 2026
Autodesk recently announced they are discontinuing network licensing for educational institutions, for all software and services, starting March 25, 2026. Our academic IT partners will use this time to phase out network-licensing for Autodesk software in classrooms and computer labs and transition to named user licenses, requiring you to sign in with Drexel Connect to use the software.
Educational license usage restrictions
Free Autodesk software and services are subject to Autodesk’s education license and may be used solely for educational purposes, related to learning, teaching, or research and development as part of instructional functions, and for Autodesk-sponsored design competitions. Autodesk software and services may not be used for commercial, professional, or other for-profit purposes, or facilities management. Learn more about Autodesk education terms and use.
