Computer Repairs
Drexel-Owned Computers and Devices
Faculty and professional staff who need Drexel-owned computer hardware diagnosed and repaired should first contact IT at helpdesk@drexel.edu or their departmental IT professional. The IT professional will assess the computer or device and choose the appropriate method for service, which will depend on the warranty status, type of computer or device, required repairs, and user needs. Some possible service scenarios:
- Warranty repairs for "user-replaceable" parts, such as hard drives or memory, may be shipped from the vendor to the IT professional with instructions.
- Per an applicable warranty agreement, a vendor technician may be sent on-site to effect the repairs.
- More extensive warranty repairs, such as the replacement of a motherboard, might go through a third-party service center, such as the Computer Fixer.
Personal Computers and Devices
Drexel IT does NOT service personal computers and devices! Faculty, professional staff, and students who require hardware repairs for a personal computer or device should contact the vendor (such as Dell or Lenovo) or visit the Apple Store (for Macs and iOS devices) if the warranty is still in effect. The Philadelphia Apple Store (215.861.6400) is located at 1607 Walnut Street.
If they are out-of-warranty, consider a third-party repair service such as Philly Phone Repair.
Phone Repair Philly
