Schuylkill Yards Development High-Rise Building
Drexel University recently announced a partnership with Brandywine Realty Trust to develop the Schuylkill Yards Project. The project involves several green areas in addition to at least eight new multi-purpose high-rise buildings “with interior spaces reserved for traditional offices, ‘innovation spaces,’ laboratories, residencies, hotels and retail establishments.” You have been selected as the civil and architectural engineering team to design one of these multi-purpose high-rise buildings. You will meet with the client (Drexel University) to ascertain their needs which will be incorporated into your design. In addition, you will explore and evaluate different options for the structural materials and systems, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) equipment for the building taking into account the financial cost and environmental impact of each option.
