Philadelphia Row Homes for Net Zero Energy and Water

Project Title and Description

Philadelphia Row Homes for Net Zero Energy and Water

Row homes constitute a large fraction of the Philadelphia residential building stock, so their combined resource use accounts for much of Philadelphia’s residential energy and water usage. This senior design project will involve the design of a Philadelphia Row Home so that it can achieve annual net zero energy and water usage. Maintaining a healthy environment must also be considered, as well as structural and envelope systems. It is up to the team whether this design is for a retrofit or is new construction. Regardless, the team must compare their home’s resource use to typical row homes in Philadelphia and also estimate the city-wide impact of retrofitting existing row homes to meet these net zero energy and water constraints.
