Patents & Commercialization

Drexel Ventures manages the intellectual property that is created at the University and serves as a bridge between Drexel’s faculty, staff and students with the private sector.

The staff work with Drexel researchers to identify new technologies that may have commercial potential, then works with intellectual property counsel to secure patent or copyright protection and negotiates license agreements with industry, investors and entrepreneurs to bring those technologies to market.

The National Academy of Inventors and Intellectual Property Owners Association has shown that Drexel ranks in the world’s top 100 of higher education institutions for patents granted in the United States in 2014.
