Academics

The College of Engineering has seven academic departments focused on education, research and engineering leadership.

We offer 11 undergraduate majors plus a number of minors and concentrations. In graduate study, we offer 17 MS degree programs (in-person and online), 8 doctoral programs, and numerous certificate programs online. See descriptions of our areas of study.

Through our cooperative education program, students balance classroom theory with practical, hands-on experience. Students alternate classes with full-time employment through University-approved employers.

A Day in the Life of a Co-op

With this standing feature, we highlight the cooperative program, in which students fulfill six-month internships in fields of their own choosing to gain experience and to see how they like the work. But what exactly is that work? What does a co-op do all day? What are the tasks assigned? And what time is lunch?
