Probation/Dismissal

Should a student’s GPA fall below established expectations outlined on the Academic Standing policy, they will be placed on Academic Probation or face Academic Dismissal from the university.

An undergraduate student will be placed on Academic Probation if either the term or cumulative GPA falls below the established 2.00 grade point average. An undergraduate student who is placed on Academic Probation must meet with their academic advisor to discuss strategies for academic success. Prior to meeting with their academic advisor, students must complete an Academic Success Plan which helps students reflect and outline goals for future success. Students can find the Academic Success Plan within the student's DrexelOne portal.

An undergraduate student who has four consecutive terms of Probation will be Academically Dismissed from the University. A student is also dismissed any time their term or cumulative GPA is less than 1.00.

If a student wishes to appeal their dismissal, the student must complete a Request for Reinstatement. A determination will be made by the College of Engineering and communicated to the student.

If, after a dismissal, a student chooses to attend another college or university and then seek readmission to Drexel, the College of Engineering requires the student to complete a number of credits with a minimum cumulative GPA. The number of credits, GPA, as well as the subjects the student takes will be determined in advance of this external coursework by the Committee on Academic Standing.
