Frequently Asked Questions
What is room buy-out?
Students with a vacant space in their room may request to buy out the vacancy. This will ensure you will not be assigned a roommate for the remainder of the year. The total room charge will be increased by 150 percent. Your fall housing charge will be prorated as a single room starting October 18. Please note that the additional set of furniture in your room must remain in your room. Students interested in this option should select Option 1 in the room swap form.
Am I guaranteed a new space if I fill out an application?
Unfortunately, we can only reassign students based on the spaces that are available. Room changes will be granted on a first-come, first-serve basis based on availability.
Will my eBill change?
There are different housing rates for different building and room types. You will experience a change in housing costs if you move to a different building or room type. Housing charges will be pro-rated based on the date you check into your new room.
What if I don't like my new assignment as much as the one I have now?
Once the applications have closed, you may not withdraw or change your request. Please be sure of your decision to move prior to submitting a room swap request.
How much time will I have to complete my move?
If your request to move is approved, you must be available to pick up your new room key from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, October 18, 2024 and complete your move to your new assignment by Sunday, October 20, 2024.
My friend doesn't have a roommate right now. How do I make sure I can move to his/her room?
Please select Option 2 on the application. You will need to indicate your friend's building and room number on your application. The student with the vacancy must also complete the room swap application and select Option 2.
I know someone who wants to switch rooms with me. How do I apply?
Please select Option 3 on the application and list the building and room you wish to move to. The person switching with you will also need to apply, select Option 3 on their application, and list your room.
Can I move on a different date?
No, moves will only occur during the assigned weekend to coordinate all other room swaps in the process.
Can I have a single room?
Unfortunately, we do not have any single rooms available at this time. If you need a single room due to a disability accommodation request, please contact disability@drexel.edu.
