Public Health Leadership Institute
Drexel's Public Health Summer Leadership Institute is designed for highly motivated high school students eager to engage in a pre-college program that offers academic challenges and enriching summer experiences. This program invites participants to explore the dynamic field of public health, with a mission to promote health equity and foster a healthier Philadelphia.
High school juniors and seniors will delve into diverse aspects of public health, including advocacy, policymaking, health administration, disease prevention, environmental health, and epidemiology. Participants will even tackle public health case studies and simulations, gaining firsthand insight into how health departments and organizations like the CDC safeguard public health.
The program includes field experiences in Philadelphia with visits to FQHC's, museums, and notable locations such as City Hall. Discussions will be guided by leading public health experts and Drexel's award-winning faculty. Students will connect with policymakers, advocates, and public health professionals while engaging in lectures, collaborative problem-solving projects, and interactive presentations.
Additionally, participants will form meaningful connections with peers and mentors, preparing for college life in an immersive and supportive environment.
