Global Perspective
As the world grows more connected, the demand for international knowledge and experience increases.
Drexel provides students with a wide variety of opportunities that will allow them to develop as leaders ready to excel on a wider stage.
Each year, hundreds of Drexel students broaden their horizons with international experiences that incorporate studying, research, community engagement, and more. We are focused on bringing an international dimension to university life through our academic programs, study and cooperative education abroad, major research projects, global classrooms, conferences, and cultural events. Dragons of all majors are invited to participate in our programs abroad or in the vast array of international programming offered on campus.
Work Abroad
Students can choose to complete Drexel's cooperative education program abroad. Through an international co-op, students spend three or six months away from classes, working in the country of their choice. The Steinbright Career Development Center has many established programs in multiple countries to choose from, or students can choose to do an independent search in an alternative country.
Study Abroad
Students can earn credit toward their degrees and go beyond classroom learning by studying abroad. Students from any major can spend an academic term fulfilling their academic requirements or choose to enroll in an Intensive Course Abroad during any of the breaks between terms, fulfilling their academic requirements or learning a new language.
The Office of Global Engagement serves as the administrative hub for study abroad programs and initiatives at Drexel University. The office also serves as the first point of contact for inbound non-matriculated exchange students who come to Drexel via the University's many exchange partners.
Education Abroad programs are aimed at both undergraduate and graduate students and range in length from one week to a full year. With programs on six of the seven continents, program locations are as varied as the interests of Drexel students.
Globalize Your Campus Experience
The Office of Global Engagement enhances the offerings of Drexel's colleges and schools through partnerships with international universities. It also promotes global awareness and visibility through a Global Research and Academic Network, International Travel Awards for faculty and graduate students, and student programming. The office also offers on-campus programming to help students think globally.
Global classrooms are courses that engage Drexel students with students from our partner universities abroad through a range of interactive technology. Students gain valuable cross-cultural experience and witness firsthand the challenges and rewards that come from working in diverse teams.
Global Engagement Scholars are Drexel students who are committed to becoming globally minded citizens. The program provides students with the necessary structure to document and connect to a wide variety of far-reaching experiences during their time at Drexel. Achievement of the scholar designation involves a combination of relevant coursework and co-curricular activities, including study or co-op abroad, foreign language study, and participation in internationally oriented organizations and events. The distinction will be noted on students' transcripts.
