Epidemiology (MPH)
Students in the Master of Public Health in Epidemiology program learn and apply quantitative approaches to characterize, monitor, and understand the health of populations. Students gain experience in the design of epidemiologic studies and in the analysis of data. Epidemiology and Biostatistics faculty focus on a range of analytic approaches and their application to a spectrum of topics including social inequalities in health, neighborhood differences in health, chronic and infectious disease epidemiology, the epidemiology of health across life stages, nutrition, physical activity and obesity, and clinical research. Career paths in epidemiology often involve data collection, analyses, and interpretation to inform policy and practice in governmental, private, nonprofit, academic, and healthcare settings. Epidemiology graduates may also manage research studies that lead to the changes in decision making in public health.

Applicants who apply by March 15 will be given priority consideration for merit-based scholarships. Applications received after this date will be considered for merit-based aid if funds remain available. Applications are continually reviewed throughout the cycle.

Graduate Admission Application
Applicants should apply using SOPHAS. Applicants will designate a choice of major, but will have the opportunity to change prior to entering the major during the spring term of the first year.

Standardized Test Scores
GRE test scores are not required. However, you may choose to submit scores to strengthen your application (SOPHAS GRE school code: 7890).
International applicants are required to demonstrate English language proficiency by submitting scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or the Pearson Test of English (PTE) unless they meet the criteria for a waiver.
Essay
Essay discussing how you became interested in public health, your career goals if known at this time and why you are interested in Drexel University. Typical length is 600–800 words.
Résumé
A résumé or CV is required, and should be uploaded as part of your admission application through the SOPHAS website.
Letters of Recommendation
Three letters of recommendation are required, preferably from faculty.
Additional Information
Prior to enrolling in the program, applicants must have completed a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Drexel University encourages students of all majors to apply to the MPH program; however, a course in statistics is highly recommended. Applicants will select a major on the SOPHAS application, although students will have the opportunity to change this selection prior to the spring term of their first year should their interests change.
Competitive applicants typically have a GPA of at least a 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). Letters of recommendation should come from faculty members; however, exceptions can be made if the applicant has been out of school for some time. The Admissions Committee holistically reviews each application, taking special note of an applicant's knowledge and motivation toward the public health profession through close evaluation of the applicant's essay and letters of recommendation.
