Architectural Engineering
The complex systems in today's building design requires an inherently interdisciplinary enterprise. The architectural engineering program is centered on the design, construction, and operation of the built environment, while incorporating sustainability, healthy environments, resilience, urban planning, and community development into decision-making. Emphasis is placed on incorporating creative solutions and technological advances into functional, efficient, and attractive building infrastructure. Students generally, but not exclusively, come from engineering or one of the related sub-disciplines of civil engineering and related fields and go on to be experts in integrated building design and operation practices on interdisciplinary teams. Master's students are able to specialize in building efficiency and alternative energy or indoor environmental quality, and are eligible to take a management study track.
