What You’ll Learn

Through the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) program, you will graduate with extensive exposure and hands-on practice in the core areas of the field, including varied approaches to program construction, algorithms, systems, networking, and software engineering. You will learn how computers actually work from the ground up. 

Program Features

• Prepares students for careers in a rapidly changing profession and to allow easy entrance to graduate education in the computer science field.
• Offers courses in core areas such as programming and data structures, and electives in many specialty areas such as artificial intelligence, computer vision and graphics, systems architecture, computer security and software engineering.

How You Can Customize Your Degree

You can customize the degree by adding a minor from the many choices in the Howley College of Engineering and Computing and/or the hundreds of minors across the University.

How You Can Gain Real-World Experience Before Graduating

Real-world experiences, such as co-ops, our annual hackathon, and a full-year team capstone project, will allow you to build solutions for business and society problems and develop professional relationships.

Cooperative Education

Senior Project

Every student participates in a final, collaborative project that challenges them to tackle a relevant problem proposed by one of our many corporate sponsors. It is a year-long process with students working alongside industry mentors. Read more about Senior Project.

Every spring, SCIS hosts Philadelphia’s largest hackathon complete with corporate-sponsored challenges that have often been translated into real, marketable solutions. Read more.

Where the Degree Can Take You

Graduates of Drexel's computer science undergraduate program hold positions such as Software Developer, Web Developer, Systems Software Systems Engineer, Network Engineer and Application Analyst. Three of the top 10 STEM jobs predicted to experience the most growth through 2030 are in the computing field, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
