Culture & Community Council

Drexel University's School of Computer and Information Sciences (SCIS) appreciates the opportunity to understand and celebrate both the shared and unique backgrounds and talents that comprise the SCIS community. Each individual contributes to making our School a thriving and dynamic community at Drexel. SCIS launched its inaugural Culture & Community (C&C) Council in November 2020. The Council emphasizes the School’s commitment to be a welcoming, supportive, respectful environment for all.

This Council is led by Marie Fazio, assistant dean of operations & strategic initiatives and the Culture & Community officer for SCIS. The Council includes representation from faculty, students and professional staff and will seek participation and input from all members of the School. The membership of the Council will continue to evolve to provide broad-based representation and to meet the needs of the SCIS community.

The Council has the following goals:

  1. to review all facets of and advocate for different viewpoints across the School
  2. to coordinate programs and initiatives within the School and in conjunction with Drexel University efforts and mandates
  3. to advise on community planning and identify and disseminate best practices
  4. to facilitate communication about culture and community topics between the SCIS community to the School’s leadership team
  5. to serve as a dedicated space for discussion of any and all topics of importance to the physical and emotional health and well-being of all members of the SCIS community

We look forward to input from the Drexel SCIS community. If you have any questions or feedback to share with the Council, please contact CCICommunity@drexel.edu.
