Artificial intelligence (AI) & machine learning (ML) are areas that enable computers and machines to think and learn, and they are the two powerhouses driving innovation across industries today. Traditionally, they formed an advanced, specialized branch of computer science—but increasingly today, these areas are exploding into large-scale ideas that encompass all areas of society. The Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (BSAIML) offers a strong foundation in the broad discipline of computer science combined with advanced AI & ML techniques and knowledge. This program will be open for the 2026 entering class. It is only open to first-year students and not to internal or external transfers.

Program Features

  • Covers core computer science skills of computational thinking and problem-solving, programming, and software development.
  • Equips students with AIML-specific knowledge and skills—in areas such as machine learning algorithms, data science, natural language processing, computer vision, neural networks, and ethics—highly sought after by a broad range of industries.
  • Encourages students to develop their creativity and originality as well as an appreciation of working for the common good.
  • Prepares students for careers in rapidly changing professions and cultivates the crucial skills they need to continue learning and remaining relevant throughout their careers.

Gain Real-World Experience Before Graduating

Cooperative Education

Drexel's cooperative education program was one of the first of its kind, and it continues to be among the largest and most renowned. Drexel Co-op allows students to test drive careers, network and gain experience before graduation. Students choose from more than 1,700 employers in 35 states and 45 international locations or conduct an independent search. Students in the BSAIML program can participate in a four-year, one co-op program or a five-year, three co-op program. Visit the Steinbright Career Development Center website to learn more.

Senior Project

Every student participates in a final, collaborative project that challenges them to tackle a relevant problem proposed by one of our many corporate sponsors. It is a year-long process with students working alongside industry mentors. Read more about Senior Project.

Codefest — CCI’s Hackathon

Every spring, CCI hosts Philadelphia’s largest hackathon complete with corporate-sponsored challenges that have often been translated into real, marketable solutions. Read more.

Career Outlook

Graduates of Drexel's undergraduate program in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning can hold positions such as software developer/engineer, programmer, data scientist, systems analyst or consultant, and manager of technical staff. Two of the top 10 STEM jobs predicted to experience the most growth through 2032—AI and Machine Learning Specialist and Software Developer—are in the artificial intelligence field, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.
