Requests for Release from Fraternity and Sorority Housing

Each organization is required to maintain a yearly occupancy requirement with the University.

Alpha Epsilon Pi, Alpha Chi Rho, Delta Zeta, Alpha Sigma Alpha, Phi Sigma Sigma, Phi Mu, Delta Phi Epsilon, Sigma Phi Epsilon, Alpha Pi Lambda and Lambda Chi Alpha residents are subject to the cancellation policies and fee schedules as outlined on the Cancellations page.

Pi Kappa Alpha, Pi Kappa Phi, Delta Sigma Phi, Theta Chi residents who requests to cancel a Housing will follow the cancellation process outlined below.

The house leadership (defined as Chapter President, House Manager, and Chapter Advisor) are contacted when a student requests to be released.

The Chapter President serves as the sole liaison to Housing and Residence Life in Requests for Release situations (except Theta Chi, where the Alumni Board President serves as sole liaison.)

If a student approaches you about requesting a releasing

  • Respectfully find out why the student is requesting to be released
  • Inform your house leadership (House Manager, Chapter President, Chapter Advisor)
  • Have the student submit a Request for Released Form to Housing and Residence Life
  • Chapter president informs Housing and Residence Life of the organization's decision to release by sending an email to housing@drexel.edu
  • A confirmation of release email will be sent to the student
  • Work with your House Director to facilitate the Move-Out process, if appropriate

If a student requests to be released from their Individual Housing Agreement via Housing and Residence Life:

  • Housing and Residence Life will notify house leadership via email of the request
  • Chapter President, House Manager, and Chapter Advisor discuss situation and determine a response
  • Within 72-hours, Chapter President informs Housing and Residence Life via email with their decision to release
  • Housing and Residence Life will contact student with the decision and determine final billing
  • A confirmation of release email will be sent to the student
