Description: Our most anticipated workshop! Taxes - You can't avoid them so you might as well understand them. This workshop is intended to give you a basic understanding of how federal taxes are calculated as well as how every financial decision you make from choosing employee benefits, home purchases to marriage and investing impacts your taxes. You will also have a better understanding of how taxes interplay with student loan repayments. Includes information about Form 1098-T for graduate students with qualifying assistantships and fellowships.

Presenter Bio: Michael Clancy is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) who is the Director of Financial Planning for the College of Medicine. Michael joined the College in 2012 to work directly with all current students and alumni as well as Residents and Fellows at DUCOM's affiliated hospitals. Michael has hosted over a hundred workshops and held over a thousand one-on-one consultations focusing on student loan repayment strategies and personal financial planning issues. As the nations' first financial planner to be embedded within a medical school, Michael is uniquely positioned to focus solely on the personal financial planning needs of early career physicians. Michael served for three years on the AAMC Committee on Student Financial Assistance representing all the allopathic medical schools in the northeast region of the country. Prior to joining Drexel, Mr. Clancy has worked for well over a decade with more than 500 High Net Worth families as their financial advisor at firms as large as Merrill Lynch and The Vanguard Group to smaller RIA practices. Mr. Clancy has his MBA from Temple University and an undergraduate degree with a double major in economics and finance from Villanova University and spent three years on the board of the Philadelphia Tri-State chapter of the Financial Planning Association most recently as the Pro-Bono Chair. Michael lives in Conshohocken Pennsylvania with his wife of over 20 years and their college-age triplets.
