About this Workshop: In this session, participants will learn how to use their Handshake and LinkedIn profiles to broaden their network, cultivate informational interviews and become an inside applicant to positions of interest.  The key steps will be discussed to identify insiders at companies of interest and learning about the company culture before even applying.  Attendees will leave knowing how to make their Handshake accounts at Drexel work for them in the job search.  They will also have a clear plan on who to contact through LinkedIn and how to become an known applicant that lands interviews.

Presenter Bio: Nicole Dalberto is passionate about supporting students, alumni and employers as the Associate Director of Career Services at the Steinbright Career Development Center of Drexel University.  Her innovative leadership of the career services team, the Handshake platform at Drexel and collaborations with campus partners enhance the career development programming across the University.  With over 10 years at Drexel University, Nicole strives to help others realize their full potential.

About this Workshop: EndNote software helps you to organize the citations you find in your research, make notes on your PDFs  and cite your references in Word to create citations and bibliographies in the style of your choice. This workshop will review basic features in EndNote, as well as more advanced tips and tricks for improving your EndNote experience including formatting organization names, searching for your comments in PDF documents, and creating a quick reference list directly from your EndNote library.

Presenter Bio: Janice Masud-Paul is the Liaison Librarian for Health Sciences Research. In the past she has served as the head of information technology for the Camden County Library System where she managed their IT staff and coordinated the shared integrated library management system. Additionally, she is a licensed dietitian/nutritionist and holds an MLIS and an MPH from Drexel University.

Presenter Bio: Lauren Karch joined the Office of Alumni Relations in January 2019 to lead the Alumni Career Services (ACS) program. Lauren has worked at Drexel since 2013 and is a two-time alumna, completing a master’s degree in higher education administration and post-master’s certificate in business leadership at Drexel.

Lauren collaborates with internal and external partners to build programs, events and volunteer activities that promote alumni leadership and advocacy. She enjoys engaging alumni and providing resources that support their personal and professional growth. Lauren is most proud of leveraging alliances across campus and within corporate networks to strengthen Drexel Alumni connections.

Presenter Bio: Fraser Fleming, PhD, is a Professor of Chemistry at Drexel University. He has extensive experience writing having published over 100 academic papers and a book "The Truth About Science and Religion." His first project consisted of designing an affinity exchange resin capable of selectively extracting Heparin, an anti-coagulant, from animal offal and his current research interests include stereochemistry and organometallics applied to the reactions of nitriles and isonitriles.

Presenter Bio: Raquel M. Arredondo is the Associate Director for Outreach, Engagement & Professional Development for Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business. In this role, Raquel drives initiatives and strategies in order to develop cultural competencies and increase global mindset, leveraging relationships with diverse employer partners, connecting students with professional opportunities, and employers with students.

Raquel brings to her role vast experience in consulting, human resources and higher education. She has worked at institutions such as Penn State University and Rutgers University providing educational, professional, and diversity programming. Raquel transitioned into corporate human resources as a training consultant, facilitating professional and leadership development workshops, and later was appointed to establish and lead their university relations recruitment team, creating successful strategies to develop diverse talent pipelines from regional colleges and universities.

Dedicated to issues that impact diversity, women, and wellness, Raquel has been recognized by the Association of Latino Professionals-Prospanica with the 2018 Brillante Award, and in 2017 AL DIA News Media recognized her as a Woman at the Top. She serves as a board member for PHLDiversity, a division of the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau, and The POWER of Professional Women. She was appointed to Drexel University’s Anti-Racism Task force charged with examining the admissions and prospective student experience of Black/African American applicants and is a collaborator for the University’s Enterprise Learning Module on Diversity and Inclusion, an initiative to institutionalize diversity, equity and inclusion training for members of the university’s faculty and staff. In addition, Raquel leads the Drexel University LeBow College of Business DEI Action Group, charged with assessing and providing strategic and actionable recommendations to the dean in the areas of curriculum and research, recruitment and retention, learning and professional development, transparency and accountability, and creating an inclusive culture at the college. She also serves as the president of Drexel University’s Hispanic/Latino colleague resource group, Bienvenidos.

Raquel is a first generation Cuban-American whose educational background includes a BA in Psychology from George Mason University, an MA in Higher Education from Rowan University, a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) designation from The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), a certificate in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Higher Education from the University of Michigan, and a Diversity & Inclusion certificate from Cornell University. Originally from the Bronx, NY, Raquel lives in South Jersey with her husband and two sons.
