DEGS 2024: Cultivating Creativity to Foster Innovation

The Graduate College, in partnership with the Graduate Student Association, hosted it's eighth annual Drexel Emerging Graduate Scholars (DEGS) Conference, a free, homegrown University-wide conference highlighting Drexel's graduate student research, Wednesday, April 24 & Thursday, April 25, 2024.

About the Conference

The annual conference provides opportunities for graduate and professional students at all levels of study and across disciplines to showcase their work to the greater Drexel community, engage in professional development, network, and compete for monetary awards.

All students, postdocs, faculty, professional staff, alumni, and guests of the University are invited to attend the conference.

Format

The conference took place in person at the Bossone Research Enterprise Center. There was also opportunities for virtual engagement, such as through pre-conference workshops, virtual oral research presentations, and through live webcasts and recordings of some in-person presentations.

Conference Highlights 

• Pre-conference workshops;
• A plenary session featuring a keynote and panel discussion on creativity and innovation;
• Research poster presentations;
• Oral research presentations (including virtual);
• Drexel's official Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) Competition, including the opportunity to vote for People's Choice Award;
• Professional development and networking opportunities;
• Food and beverage throughout the conference;
• A post-conference creativity pitch challenge;
• And, an awards ceremony and reception.
