Teacher of Students with Vision Impairments
Both the Master of Education, Blindness and Vision Impairment (MEd) and the Certificate Program, Teacher of Students with Vision Impairments (TVI) are competency-based teacher preparation programs and offer coursework and practical experiences that develop the knowledge and skills required for the instruction of infants, children and youth who are blind or visually impaired, and those with multiple disabilities. Please note that the TVI Certificate does not include Critical Analysis of Research course.
Students successfully completing their program are prepared for certification by the state credentialing body in Pennsylvania. The master’s degree program offers students the possibility of reciprocity of certification in other states. Both programs are offered for part- and full-time study, with coursework primarily online during the fall and spring terms, a four-week summer residency on campus for two summers, and an internship.
