Living Learning Communities

Students live with other students from the same academic program, making it easy to form study groups or project teams. 

Living Learning Communities (LLCs) are assigned a specific area in a residence hall and organize their own social and academic activities, from informal gatherings to lecture series. Please note that with the exception of the Honors Community and Neurodiverse-Friendly Housing, only first-year students can apply to live in an LLC. 

Biomedical Engineering Living Learning Community

The Biomedical Engineering LLC is designed to help foster a sense of community amongst first-year students in the school of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems. Students in this community are all in BIOMED, so you will live amongst like-minded peers who will be taking the same courses. Through this community, students will learn important success skills for a Biomedical Engineering major, explore the different opportunities in the field, and develop life-long connections with their peers. 

Housing Location: Millennium Hall

Advisor: Elise Bryers, emb53@drexel.edu

Requirements: Students must be a major in the School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems. Students will also take UNIV 101 and CIVIC 101 together.

College of Computing & Informatics (CCI) Living Learning Community

The CCI LLC is designed to help foster a sense of community among first-year students who are in the College of Computing and Informatics. Students in this community all have majors in CCI, so you will live amongst like-minded peers who will be taking similar courses. Through this community, students will learn important skills for success in CCI and explore the field. Students will also have the opportunity to connect with peers interested in the same academic areas to create bonds across their college.

Requirements: Students must be a major in the College of Computing and Informatics. Students will also take UNIV 101 together. 

College of Nursing & Health Professions Living Learning Community

The College of Nursing & Health Professions LLC is designed to help foster a sense of community amongst first-year students who are in the Nursing and Health Professions programs. Students in this community all have majors in CHNP, so you will live amongst like-minded peers who will be taking similar courses. Through this community, students will learn important skills for success in CHNP and explore the field. Students will be able to engage with their peers in a residential community and build lasting connections.

Requirements: Students must be a major in the College of Nursing and Health Professions

Engineering Living Learning Community

The Engineering LLC is designed to help connect first-year students who are in College of Engineering programs. Students in this community all have majors or are undeclared in the College of Engineering, so you will live amongst like-minded peers who will be taking similar courses. Through this community, students will take a first-year course together and have the opportunity to engage with older engineering students known as peer mentors. Through this community, students will learn important skills for success in college and explore their fields of interest, while also creating connections across the College of Engineering.

Requirements: Students must be a major in the College of Engineering. Students also take UNIV 101 together.

 

First-Year Exploratory Studies Living Learning Community

The FYES LLC is designed to help foster a sense of community amongst first-year students who are coming into Drexel undecided on their major pathway. Students in this community are in the Goodwin College of Professional Studies, so you will live amongst peers who will also be exploring their academic interests. Through this community, students will learn important skills for success in college and explore their fields of interest, while also creating connections across the University.

Requirements: Students must be in the Goodwin College of Professional Studies. Students also take UNIV 101 together.  

Honors Living Learning Community 

The Honors LLC is designed to help foster a sense of community amongst students who are members of the Pennoni Honors College through the Honors Program, STAR Scholars Program, or Custom-Designed Major. Students in this community will receive access to specialized programming and social events and will benefit from living with other engaged and academically focused students from all different majors and colleges. This community is open to first year and returning students. While first-year students outside of the Pennoni Honors College are welcome to apply for the Honors Living-Learning Community, priority will be given to students who are PHC affiliated.   

Housing Location: Bentley Hall

Requirements: Students must be in the Honors Program, STAR Scholars Program, or the Custom-Designed Major. Students not in one of these programs who think they would benefit from engaging in this community are welcome to apply and are reviewed depending on space availability.

Liberty Scholars Living Learning Community

Liberty Scholars are high-achieving, driven students who demonstrate a commitment to education, community service, and social justice. To this end, the Liberty Scholars LLC is designed to empower a community of scholars to pursue academic excellence, develop leadership skills, foster a sense of belonging, and persistence to graduation through academic support, mentorship, and relevant programming. Through this community and as affiliates in the Center for Inclusive Education and Scholarship community, Liberty Scholars will develop self-efficacy and cultural capital while forming strong connections to reach academic and personal goals.

Requirements: Students must be in the Liberty Scholars program

Bennett S. LeBow College of Business Living Learning Community

The Lebow LLC is designed to help foster a sense of community amongst first-year students who are in College of Business programs. Students in this community all have majors in the College of Business, so you will live amongst like-minded peers who will be taking similar courses. Through this community, students will learn important skills for success in business and explore the field. Students are also able to engage with each other outside of the classroom allowing lasting bonds to form.

Requirements: Students must be a major in the Bennett S. LeBow College of Business. Students also take UNIV 101 together.
