Specialty Housing Options
Neurodiverse-Friendly Housing
Our Neurodiverse-Friendly Housing option is a welcoming community for undergraduate neurodivergent and neurotypical students to live together with a few additional supports. Students in this community will have access to a calmer early move-in process, structured and unstructured social events, and much more. The Neurodiverse-Friendly Housing community is currently located in North Hall. While encouraged, it is not required for students to be enrolled in the Center for Autism and Neurodiversity to live in the community. (Please note that this housing option is not supportive housing, assisted living, or segregated housing). Visit Center for Autism and Neurodiversity or email CAN@drexel.edu for more information.
Religious Accommodation Options
Our Religious Accommodation Housing options offer a welcoming community for students with religious observances/beliefs that may not be accommodated in a standard residence hall room. We currently offer Ablution-friendly (wudhu) and Kosher/Shabbat-friendly housing in spaces across campus. Students in these spaces will have housing that meets their needs and a community of students. Students interested in this housing opportunity will complete the Housing application and provide information about their specific needs. Students with questions regarding housing options are welcome to email housing@drexel.edu for more information.
Kosher/Shabbat-Friendly housing is currently available in Van Rensselaer Hall. Students accepted into Kosher/Shabbat-friendly will be assigned to an apartment with a kashered kitchen on the lower floors of the building. Each apartment will house 1 - 4 students. Only students who have opted into this opportunity will be assigned to these apartments. A list of participants will be given to the front desk of the hall so that non-electronic access can be granted on Shabbat (sunset on Friday through sunset on Saturday). During Shabbat, students will be granted permission to enter the hall through the side ramp door. Students may walk through the exit gate and will not need to scan into the building during this time. IDs should still be shown to the front desk for verification.
Please note that students do not have permission to have any open flame inside their apartment. Students are encouraged to visit the Perelman Center for Jewish Life to light candles.
Ablution-Friendly (Wudhu) housing is available in a number of residence halls on campus. Students accepted into Ablution-Friendly housing will be assigned to an apartment/suite near a Multi-Faith Prayer and Meditation Space. Each apartment/suite will house 1 - 6 students. Only students who have opted into this opportunity will be assigned there. Each space will have access to a bathroom with a bidet and a handheld shower.
