My Experience with the Civic Engagement Living-Learning Community
Participating in the Civic Engagement Living-Learning Community (LLC) in my first year has had a major impact on my time here at Drexel. This LLC helped me connect to the Drexel and Philly community in ways that I know would not have been possible without it.
The LLC also helped me connect to other programs to build my skills as a leader.
Some of my favorite events include volunteering with Books through Bars (a space that send books to people currently in prison) and going to the Philadelphia African American Museum. These events let me connect with other students and reflect on what building a civically engaged community looked like to me.
The LLC also helped me connect to other programs to build my skills as a leader. Without the LLC, I would not have known about the Civic Engagement Leader Certificate or been able to work at the Lindy Center as a front desk staff member.
My favorite opportunity the LLC gave me was being able to create and lead a discussion at the Lindy Center on the importance of social media in activism. Overall, I loved this program and I just wanted to write about my time there!
