Hyung Wook joins the PhD program in information science under the mentorship of Dr. Mat Kelly. Hyung Wook's research interests are extracting semantic patterns from data and re-threading them to clarify semantic ambiguity. Before joining the PhD program, Hyung Wook earned BA and MA in library and information science from Ewha Womans University in South Korea and entered Drexel enrolled in the master's in data science. Hyung Wook's previous research was focused on visualizing data-driven networks. Hyung Wook enjoys exercising, reading books and watching movies.

Lisa joins the Dornsife School of Public Health as a first-year doctoral student in Environmental and Occupational Health. Under the mentorship of Dr. Jane Clougherty, Lisa will investigate how social stressors and resilience factors shape the relationship between environmental exposures and health. Lisa is thrilled to join a scholarly community that emphasizes health equity, social justice, and policy-relevant research. Before joining Drexel, Lisa received their BA from Reed College in Chemistry in 2015 and completed an MPH in Social and Behavioral Sciences at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in 2020. Outside of their research interests, Lisa is an avid boulderer, music listener and a proud cat parent.

Fangqian joins the PhD program in economics under the mentorship of Dr. Marco Airaudo. Fangqian was born and raised in Xinyang, China. She received her BA in international economics and trade from the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing, China in 2019 and her MA in agricultural economics and management from the Renmin University of China in Beijing, China in 2022. Her research interest lies in international trade. In her free time, she enjoys cycling, playing badminton and listening to Cantopop songs.

Alison is thrilled to join Drexel University as a first-year Neuroscience doctoral student under the mentorship of Dr. Rodrigo España. She received her Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience from Muhlenberg College in 2020. Prior to joining Drexel, she worked as a post-baccalaureate researcher at the National Institutes of Health. Currently, she is interested in addiction, and ultimately hopes to contribute to our growing understanding of habit formation in the rodent brain. Alison chose Drexel for the opportunity to work in labs that align with her specific research interests and for its strong Neuroscience community. Outside of the lab, she loves to read, write and hike.

Reena is thrilled to be joining Drexel University as a first-year Clinical Psychology doctoral student working under the mentorship of Dr. Meghan Butryn at the WELL Center. After graduating from Boston University with a Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience, Reena worked as a clinical research coordinator at the Cancer Outcomes Research and Education Program at Massachusetts General Hospital. Her research interests focus on exploring how psychosocial factors and social determinants of health (SDOH) influence the health outcomes of patients with chronic illnesses. She is also interested in the use of behavioral interventions to promote healthy behavior change and increase the accessibility of care.  Outside of work/school, Reena spends her time dancing, crocheting, reading, and spending quality time with friends and family.

Sierra is delighted to join the Drexel community as a neuroscience PhD student under the mentorship of Dr. Jessica Barson. Prior to joining Drexel, she received her BS in biopsychology, cognition and neuroscience from the University of Michigan. Upon graduation she continued in her undergraduate lab as a research technician for two years investigating the biological basis of temperament. Currently, her research interests center on the neural basis of psychiatric and substance use disorders. Her hobbies include playing tennis and collecting coffee mugs.

Hailey joins Drexel University as a first-year Clinical Psychology doctoral student under the mentorship of Dr. Kirk Heilbrun. She received her master's degree in psychological science at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where she primarily researched treatment amenability and participant perceptions in the criminal justice system. She worked at the Brunswick County Courthouse to evaluate and research drug treatment, DWI, and mental health, problem-solving courts. At Drexel University, she plans to continue her research on justice involved populations, examining mental health needs, substance use, and treatment based alternatives to prosecution. In her free time, Hailey enjoys traveling and exploring the outdoors, though more often you will find her bundled in a heated blanket watching a horror movie or reading a mystery novel—under the supervision of her two sphynx cats.

Khaled is delighted to join the Chemistry doctoral program at Drexel under the mentorship of Dr. Ezra Wood. Khaled completed his bachelors and master's degrees in chemistry from the University of Dhaka in Bangladesh where he worked as a research assistant on projects such as the NASA's Aerosol Robotic Network (AERONET) and Surface Particulate Matter Network (SPARTAN). His research interests include atmospheric chemistry and remote-sensing. Khaled firmly believes that at Drexel, working with Dr. Ezra Wood, he will be able to significantly contribute to his goal to improve the air quality of the world for a better tomorrow.

Michael Klein is a first-year doctoral student in the School of Education under the mentorship of Dr. Christopher Wright. He received his BA from Bloomsburg University and his MS in education from the University of Pennsylvania. For the last four years, Michael has worked as an English teacher and reading specialist in the School District of Philadelphia. Currently, his research interests relate to adult education, talent acquisition and development. In his spare time, Michael enjoys reading and golfing.
