It is that time of year again when men and women, young and old(er) don a cap and gown and walk across a stage to signify an incredible accomplishment. Graduates across Drexel University are preparing to walk across that stage, and today the graduates of Goodwin College will take their place among the many to celebrate their achievement.

To each of you – this is the beginning of so much more. By all means celebrate! Capitalize on what you have learned. Use it to leverage your future, but also use it to empower others. A diploma from Drexel University should also be about using your skills and knowledge to benefit others.

President John Fry has a goal and you are part of that goal – to become the most civically engaged university in the country. It is more than taking UNIV 101, volunteering, or advocating for others while on campus as a student. His goal is bigger – much bigger. Now that you are graduating, about to start a new chapter in your life, continue to give back, continue to engage in your community, continue to advocate for others. As an alumnus, be part of Drexel’s enduring legacy to contribute to the common good.

Congratulations to you and your families on this very special day.

Best,

Anne Converse Willkomm
