Students with an interest in Mechanics and Structures are exposed to the foundations of the static and dynamic analysis of structures and machines from a theoretical and computational point of view. Emphasis is placed on the mechanical behavior of structures and machine parts, failure mechanisms, advanced materials and use of finite elements for stress analysis of complex structures. Career opportunities are found virtually in any technological field where issues like reliability and failure of materials and structures are of utmost importance, including buildings, aircraft, machine components, electronic parts and biomechanical systems.
Recommended Courses
- MEM 330 - Mechanics of Materials II
- MEM 423 - Mechanics of Vibrations
- MEM 427 - Eng. Finite Element Methods
- MEM 431 - Machine Design
- CIVE 301 - Structural Analysis II
Details for these courses can be found in the Drexel Catalog . It is noted that the university regulations stipulate that a course can be offered only if a minimum number of students is enrolled.
