Bachelor of Science in Health Data Analytics Admissions Requirements

To be considered for the Bachelor's in Health Data Analytics degree at Drexel Dornsife, applicants must meet the following admissions criteria:

  • Completion of high school curriculum that will best prepare them for freshman-year studies at the college level
  • Three years of mathematics (algebra I and II, geometry)
  • At least one year of a laboratory science (biology, chemistry, or physics)

BS in Health Data Analytics Curriculum

Reflecting the interdisciplinary approach of the Dornsife School of Public Health, students take courses in biostatistics, information science, public health, mathematics, epidemiology, and additional scientific disciplines of their choosing.

As students progress through the major, they gain deeper analytical skills through coursework, co-op experience, and a senior capstone project.

Students develop a course of study that builds their knowledge in areas including:

Required Courses for a Health Data Analytics Bachelor's Degree

The Bachelor's in Health Data Analytics degree program requires four years of structured coursework, consisting of required core courses and electives in the Dornsife School of Public Health, and in other academic units across Drexel University.

Core public health courses in the program include:

  • PBHL 101 Introduction to Public Health
  • PBHL 301 Epidemiology in Public Health
  • PBHL 210 Biostatistics 1 or PBHL 312 Public Health Data Analysis

Degree Requirements for Dornsife's Bachelor's Degree in Health Data Analytics

In order to receive a BS in Health Data Analytics, students must meet the following requirements:

  • Completion of 180 credits, including required courses in general university education, physical and life sciences, social sciences and public health
  • Pass three writing-intensive courses (two in a student's major and the third in any discipline)
  • Completion of senior capstone experience

Is Healthcare Data Analytics a Good Career?

In May 2022 the median annual wage for statisticians was $99,960. For health information managers it was $104,830, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Overall employment of statisticians and health information managers is projected to grow about 30 percent from 2022 to 2032, much faster than the average for all occupations.
