Student Life

Students dance in front of Dornsife

The mission of the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) is to enrich the Dornsife School of Public Health experience by providing support services and programs that address the professional, academic, and personal goals of students and alumni. OSA strives to create essential opportunities that empower students in the pursuit of public health excellence and the improvement of health of diverse communities in Philadelphia through education, research, and service.

OSA manages orientation, commencement, annual student awards, and student policies, among other things.

OSA also oversees alumni affairs, works closely with officers of the student government, assists students with disabilities, and serves as an information source for students. OSA staff advise student organizations on a variety of issues including goal setting and event planning.

It is our objective to achieve this mission in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner by fostering a caring, positive, inclusive, student-centered environment.

Orientation and Pinning Ceremony

Each September, Drexel University holds Welcome Week, an orientation for new students. This celebratory and informative event will give all new Dragons the opportunity to be together for a full week before diving into classes. Welcome Week provides you with hundreds of events and activities to choose from to help you make your home here at Drexel. In order to assist students during this exciting time, the Office of Student Affairs at Dornsife School of Public Health holds an orientation and supports programs for all new and incoming students.

As a special welcome for new students at the Dornsife School of Public Health, the School holds the Pinning Ceremony, which is a longstanding Dornsife tradition and an opportunity for our new students to meet each other, our staff, and faculty.

All incoming students will receive important information via their new Drexel email account regarding the Orientation schedule, communication tools, financial aid and enrollment, academic affairs and support services, and campus life and housing. Be sure to set up your Drexel student accounts and email.

Dornsife proudly invites all community members to celebrate the achievements of bachelor's, master's, and doctoral graduates with a special ceremony. Information regarding both the School and University ceremonies, steps towards commencement, RSVP and ticket information, regalia, and diplomas will be posted to Drexel's commencement website. For further questions, please contact the Commencement Hotline at 1.800.2DREXEL.
