As the world grows more connected, the demand for international knowledge and experience increases. There are many ways in which Drexel students can individualize their experiences to go abroad and exceed these demands.
Drexel brings an international dimension to University life through our academic programs, study and cooperative education abroad, major research projects, global classrooms, conferences, and cultural events. These initiatives instill an awareness of today's global challenges and opportunities in science and technology, politics and economics, and society and culture.
Students can choose to complete Drexel's cooperative education program abroad. Through an international co-op, students spend a three-month or six-month period of time away from classes, working in the country of their choice. The Steinbright Career Development Center has many established programs in multiple countries to choose from, or students can choose to do an independent search in an alternative country.
Students can also choose the Study + Co-op option which combines a study abroad and an international co-op experience.
Students can earn credit toward their degrees and go beyond classroom learning by studying abroad. Students from any major can spend an academic term fulfilling their academic requirements, or choose to enroll in an Intensive Course Abroad during any of the breaks between terms, fulfilling their academic requirements or learning a new language. Interested students should consult with the Study Abroad Office for existing programs and options.
Globalize Your Campus Experience
The Office of Global Engagement and Education Abroad enhances the offerings of Drexel's colleges and schools through partnerships with international universities. It also promotes global awareness and visibility through a Global Research and Academic Network, International Travel Awards for faculty and graduate students, and student programming. Global Engagement also offers on-campus programming to help students think globally.
Global classrooms are courses that engage Drexel students with students from our partner universities abroad through a range of interactive technology. Students gain valuable cross-cultural experience and witness firsthand the challenges and rewards that come from working in diverse teams.
Global Engagement Scholars are Drexel students who are committed to becoming globally-minded citizens. The program provides students with the necessary structure to document and connect a wide variety of global experiences during their time at Drexel. Achievement of the scholar designation involves a combination of relevant coursework and co-curricular activities, including study or co-op abroad, foreign language study, and participation in globally-oriented organizations and events. The distinction will be noted on students' transcripts.
Fund an Enhanced Travel Experience
The Drexel Fellowships Office encourages students to apply for nationally competitive awards to enhance undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate work. It also provides resources and support for finding opportunities from undergraduate study to international research.
