John Soriano Aguilar

Degree Program: MS in Information Systems - Full-time, online
Undergraduate Institution: Fordham University
Personal Interests: Baseball, soccer, traveling, reading, and coffee
Career Goals: Considering getting an MBA to work in an intersection between IT and Business/Finance
Advice to Prospective Students: Keep an updated calendar (I use my Apple Calendar) to keep track of everything going on; it makes it easier to coordinate plans with friends and family to avoid conflicts with work and school commitments.

Degree Program: MSI in Library & Information Science - Part-time, online
Undergraduate Institution: Northeastern University
Personal Interests: Writing speculative fiction, traveling, reading and Pilates
Career Goals: Children’s Literature Special Collections Curator
Advice to Prospective Students: Do not be afraid to ask for help. As a graduade student, you may feel you are too experienced in school and life to need support. However, regardless of where we are in our careers, there comes a time when you need a little assistance. Be proactive and give yourself some grace. Reach out.

Personal Interests: Drawing & painting, yoga, taking walks and hiking, makeup/beauty
Career Goals: Working as a software engineer for a couple of years, then go back to school for my PhD and eventually teach undergraduate computer science
Advice to Prospective Students: Being a graduate student is demanding and it's difficult to manage your time effectively, but you should always try to take some time every day for yourself. It can be as simple as unplugging for an hour or taking a short walk.

Advice to Prospective Students: It is important to have good time management skills, especially when you have other jobs. Be sure to stay organized and complete assignments early if you can to alleviate stress!

Personal Interests: Concerts, cafes, community-building, road trips, running, writing
Career Goals: Become a librarian that works with and for the community – in an academic or public sphere.
Advice to Prospective Students: Your heart and mind got you here, and will continue to light the way. When the going gets tough, remember that you have gotten through everything even when you thought you wouldn't. So, speak up, speak out, and believe in yourself!

Personal Interests: Hiking, traveling, being around nature
Career Goals: Become a full stack software developer. Build an NGO for community betterment.
Advice to Prospective Students: "Rest if you must, but don't you quit.” Take breaks when necessary and not be too hard on yourself.It's important to recognize when you need to step back and take a breath, and then come back to tackle challenges with renewed energy and determination. Don’t forget to reward yourself even for your smallest achievements.

Advice to Prospective Students: Utilize the resources around you to help you achieve your goals, whether that is Drexel career services, professors, family or friends.

Advice to Prospective Students: Get involved in different programs, take advantage of resources on campus, network and build relationships, and prioritize your mental and physical health. Try to help others without expecting anything back. Keep smiling and keep hustling.

Advice to Prospective Students: School can be stressful at times and thus, my advice is that you need to find things to do outside of school to de-stress yourself. Meet as many people as possible, build connections and don't be afraid to try something new.

Become a Graduate Dean's Ambassador

The CCI Graduate Dean’s Ambassador program is focused on promotion of the graduate student experience to prospective and new graduate students. Graduate Dean's Ambassadors will have a role in recruiting and admissions events, as well as driving new graduate student growth and engagement. By becoming a Graduate Dean’s Ambassador, you will help fellow students; strengthen your leadership and communication skills; and develop unique experiences with CCI's academic partners.
