I chose this major because...  I think that we are living in a world where businesses and companies are increasingly utilising technology to make smart decisions and stay competitive in their fields. From customer relationship management software, data analytics and reporting tools to artificial intelligence, technology and software is disrupting the business world. I want to play a role in this exciting progression, and this is exactly the reason I chose Computer Science. In the future, I hope CCI will provide me with the skills needed to be successful in a range of careers. I aspire to become a software developer, but I would also love to see myself progress into a more management role, such as becoming a Chief Technology Officer for a business firm.

Favorite Course(s): CI 102/103: This is one of the most challenging and yet rewarding experience so far at Drexel. With the class having a strong focus on soft skills and team processes rather than the technical side of things, I teamed up with 3 other freshman and built our own software product from scratch. This hands-on experience has definitely equipped me with the skills and mindset needed to work in professional software teams in the future.

When I'm not at Drexel, I'm... Exploring nature around Pennsylvania, camping and hiking with Drexel Weekend Warriors, reading some mystery novels, or just simply hanging out with my friends

When you are in Philadelphia, I think you should... Explore art places in Philly such as the Magic Garden or the Museum of Illusion, go cafe hopping in Center City, grab some books from the Free Library of Philadelphia

Advice to new/incoming CCI students: Definitely go above and beyond to reach out to every resource Drexel and Philadelphia has to offer. Want to learn more about coding and technology? Spend time in the CCI Cyber Learning Center to have a talk with upperclassmen and teaching assistants. Honestly, everyone is extremely friendly and open, and is willing to share with you about anything. You should also team up with your friends and join the annual Philly Codefest to build something and learn! Outside of class, try to meet more people to broaden your network and friendships. Whether you love cooking, movies, books, or camping, there are tons of clubs and activities for you to join and start having memorable experiences. Keep in mind that we are all in this together and every student is really supportive, you just need to be active and open.
