Guide to Applying for First-Year Housing

One of the most exciting times of the college admissions process is picking a school and starting to plan for the upcoming year. I remember back in 2014 how nervous I was to find a roommate that I would end up getting along with. Thankfully, the Drexel housing process brought me close to my now best friend of nine years! This can be the case for you too, but to do that, you need to apply for housing!

It's fun to think about who your roommate is going to be and where you'll be living. At Drexel, you can have a random roommate selection or find your own roommate. You can also look through a variety of housing options, anywhere from traditional to suite style. You can check out those different options here.

This is all a lot to figure out, so I put together a step-by-step guide to apply for housing at Drexel so you can make sure you submit everything by the deadlines!

Following these steps will ensure that you're on track to complete all the required steps in the housing process. 

STEP 1: Apply for Housing by May 15, 2023

While the Housing Application does not close, students are encouraged to apply by the May 15 priority deadline in order to participate in roommate matching and room self-selection. You can do this by logging in to the DrexelOne Portal using your Drexel credentials and navigate to the Campus+Community tab. Then, select the "Housing and Dining" link to log in to the Housing and Dining portal to start your application.

STEP 2: Roommate Matching (June 5–June 26, 2023)

This is a great opportunity to browse and match with potential roommates and form groups with preferred roommates. You're encouraged to review and update your Living Style Questionnaire in your housing application in advance of this process. You'll receive an email to your Drexel email account with roommate matching information; please check your Drexel email prior to June 5 for this information.

STEP 3: Room Self-Selection (June 20–June 26, 2023)

If you complete your housing application by May 15 and were issued a room self-selection time ticket, you have until June 26, 2023 to make your room selection. If a room assignment is not selected during self-selection, a room will be administratively assigned on a first-applied, first-assigned basis. You'll receive an email to your Drexel email account with your room self-selection time ticket information; please check your Drexel email prior to June 20 for this information.
