Why is CNHP the Best Choice?
Our guest blogger for the post below is Alichea Peace, a senior Drexel student pursuing a bachelor's degree in nursing.
I'm a senior nursing student from Brooklyn, NY who hopes to travel the world as an operating room nurse and help future nursing students practice self-care while navigating nursing school. I get asked a lot about how did a girl from the Big Apple end up in the City of Brotherly Love and the answer is Drexel University. I have had the pleasure to be a student of some of the best clinical instructors and professors. They are always available to teach and guide you through your journey to success. I feel prepared to step onto a unit with confidence because of my academic and clinical experience in the College of Nursing and Health Professions at Drexel.
You might read everything and think, "It really can't always be that good?" and you would be right. I have had some difficult times in school, and I want to tell you about one. I had to take a required class called Pathophysiology and if I might say so myself, that class is not for the faint of heart. I thought because I did great in Anatomy & Physiology I would not have trouble in this class at all. Well, I struggled and felt defeated, but when I reached out to my professor — this was when I experienced how amazing the faculty is. She helped me realize that failing doesn't mean you won't be successful, it just means you have to look at what didn't work before and try a new way.

Because I failed two exams and got to my final exam needing a 94 to pass the class, I cried and cried some more because, for me, this was just not achievable. My professor reassured me that a 94 was achievable and she met with me every Monday at 6 p.m. to review content until the final exam. This professor was so dedicated to seeing me pass that she committed her time to help me. Just in case you're waiting to see how it turned out, I passed with a 94!!!!! She even called me to say how proud of me she was and said, "Alichea, I almost fell out of my chair when I saw your grade." If I had any doubt about my choice, it went out the window. Now I'm a senior — I don't want to succeed for myself, I want to succeed for the professors who genuinely care about their students. I can guarantee you that you will always find a professor like her at the College of Nursing and Health Professions.
I have also had the opportunity to be involved on campus in a variety of ways. I am a part of the Dragon Recruitment team, and I am a member of Drexel University's Student Nurses Association (DUSNA) and had the best time at the Student Nurses Association of Pennsylvania Convention. Being a part of the student population at CNHP introduced me to new friendships that will last a lifetime and faculty that I know I will stay in touch with even after I graduate.
