A Note about Drexel's Virtual Admitted Students Events
This is the strangest life I've ever known.
— The Doors, "Waiting for the Sun."
I am a music fan. It's not just the aesthetic appreciation for music that I'm attracted to — music can function almost like a time machine, taking us back to the most joyous and important memories of our past. I also find the power of song helpful in providing perspective on the present and the future.
Like many people across the country and around the world, my team and I have been experiencing major adjustments to daily life as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19). Although my career spans over twenty-one years at five different academic institutions, the current situation with COVID-19 is unchartered territory for me, as it is for my colleagues at Drexel and elsewhere. None of us have ever had to deal with something like this. There is no playbook or best practices to follow in this situation. In the words of Jim Morrison and The Doors, "This is the strangest life I've ever known." In fact, when I wake up each day, I have the distinct feeling that the life and world I am inhabiting is one that is different from that of the night before. In the face of the ever-changing world that we live in, we have had to make some very important and drastic changes in a very short amount of time in order to ensure the safety and well-being of the Drexel community and those who would visit our campus.
We remain committed to using our resources and technology to provide a quality admitted student experience.
We are very disappointed that we will not be able to meet with students and their families on campus during the month of April. Our April Admitted Students Days (ASDs) are the highlight of our year, our chance to meet and interact with the students behind the amazing stories contained in each admitted student's application. Although we won't have the opportunity for thousands of students and their families to gather on campus this year for our ASDs, we remain committed to using our resources and technology to provide a quality admitted student experience. Updates on our admitted student experience offerings can be found on our Admitted Students Events page. In the meantime, we are happy to provide several ways to explore Drexel through our Undergraduate Virtual Experience which, among other things, includes virtual information sessions and live one-on-one chats with one of our admission officers as well as informational videos and engaging student stories.
We hope you will join us for these new virtual experiences and appreciate your patience as we continue to put additional plans in motion. Please continue to check back in with us and, most importantly, stay healthy.
