Involvement is the Key to a Great Campus Connection

I cannot recommend enough getting involved on campus. I was involved in so many activities, sometimes it made my head spin, but looking back on my college experience the time in my club meetings or sorority events are some of my most treasured memories with my absolute best friends…who remain that way to this day! While I'm out on the road recruiting, I often get asked by students, "well what is there to do on Drexel's campus?" My response is usually something like, "well, what do you like to do?" I ask that because there's something for every type of person to get involved in on campus.

As a transfer student, this may feel a little more difficult since you aren't coming in with the typical first-year cohort or you may not be living on campus. Drexel does a great job of making the organizations available to students accessible and easy to locate to get yourself involved. Whether you're into politics and government, the Star Wars saga, or simply a fan of chocolate, there are ways to get involved and really find your niche here. Getting involved is one of the best ways to make a place feel like a community and create a home for yourself on campus.

Getting engaged on campus can not only help you during your time here, it can lead to relationships and learning experiences that will extend far beyond your time in college.

Community Student Association

Many transfer students happen to fall into the category of commuter student as well. One of the organizations we have on campus is the Community Student Association. These students work to create a community of support for off-campus and commuter students, and assist in their overall adjustment to the university. Check out their DragonLink page.

Club and Intramural Sports

Whether you've played a sport since you were little, or you're just interested in staying active, Drexel has many club and intramural sports offerings to get involved in. We have everything from Club Water Polo to Drexel Karate Club. You can contact the club sport team directly; however, the intramural sports leagues allow for sign up through Drexel Rec Athletics' website.

Identity-Based Organizations

Identity-based orgs allow you to meet and interact with students who may share the same values, religion, political affiliation, or cultural identity as you. Some of these organizations include the Drexel African Students Association, Dragon's First, BAPS Campus Fellowship, and many more.

Fraternity and Sorority Life

Drexel is home to over 30 recognized Greek letter organizations, with over 1700 undergraduate members. Many events are coordinated by FSL throughout the year that include Homecoming activities, Greek Week, and Night on the Row during Welcome Week.

Academic and Professional Organizations

Chances are, whatever you decide to major in will have a club or organization associated with it. These groups are a great way to get involved with things happening within your academic unit. Planning events and fundraisers, networking activities, and interacting with faculty helps to keep students engaged with what is happening inside the classroom and how they can apply it to their daily life. In addition to the major-related organizations, we have honorary and professional organizations that recognize student achievement inside the classroom.
