Meet the Author: Young Eun Park

Hello Everyone! My name is Young Eun Park and I am currently a freshman nursing major at Drexel also looking at minoring in nutrition. I am in the 5-year co-op program and looking forward to my first co-op in the fall of 2017. During my first two quarters in college, I have come to learn so much about the Drexel experience and the extracurricular activities that Drexel offers.

I am currently a member of the Honors College. Joining the college has probably been the best decision of my life. I was able to meet a wonderful group of friends and roommate through the honors living community in Millennium. In addition, I get to participate in numerous honors specific events, including Dean’s Tea, Ticket Tuesday, and Priority Scheduling. I make sure to attend at least one event per term, because it serves as a nice stress reliever. Although I love nursing and all my nursing friends, it is sometimes nice to see people not related to the program. I am hoping to develop as a student through the honors program and explore academics beyond the scope of a nursing degree.

I cannot wait to specifically share my wonderful experiences at Drexel University!

I am also a part of the Drexel University Student Nurses Association. In a subdivision of the same organization, I am a member of the events committee. Through this organization, I help the community, coordinate exciting events, and participate in educational meetings. The mentorship and support system in this organization is one of the things that helped me through the first quarter at college. The upperclassmen love to give advice and create a comforting environment to help the new freshman navigate through all the difficult nursing classes. In all the activities, everyone supports each other. This is what motivates me to continue to become an active member in this club. In the future, I will hopefully become a knowledgeable upperclassman that helps the nervous freshman along as well.

To balance out schoolwork, I am an avid believer in resting and relaxing. Although it is not always good for my academics, I make sure to take breaks between my classes and assignments. As a runner, I go to the Drexel Recreational Center at least once a week. I am also a member of Renewal College Fellowship, a Christian organization on campus. Additionally, I spend a lot of time with my friends exploring the city or watching movies in the dorm. These activities assure that I am mentally relaxed throughout the busy school year.

This is just a small overview of what I enjoy doing. I cannot wait to specifically share my wonderful experiences at Drexel University!
