Required Duration

Change in co-op experience duration

Co-op is a planned six-month experience  not more, not less. In order to be eligible to receive full co-op credit, a student must successfully complete at least 70% of the weeks of the six-month experience. There may be some cases where a student is unable to meet this requirement. Some of these instances may include:

  • Layoff from co-op position
  • Termination from co-op position
  • Study abroad
  • Geological Field Camp
  • NCAA athletics
  • ROTC training obligations

In the event that the co-op time period needs to be adjusted, a student must contact their co-op advisor immediately to discuss necessary steps to be eligible to receive co-op credit. When appropriate, these restrictions should be shared with prospective employers during the interviewing process.
