Faculty Guidelines for Confidential Care of Medical Students

Faculty who serve as providers of medical, psychiatric or psychological care to medical students are not permitted to participate in the assessment of the student's academic performance at any time during their medical school education. Additionally, faculty cannot take part in decisions regarding the advancement and/or graduation of a student for whom they provide care. Faculty are expected to notify appropriate course and/or curriculum directors if they anticipate or become aware of a potential conflict so that alternative educational arrangements can be made. All faculty completing clinical evaluations of students will be asked to confirm that they have not provided psychiatric/psychological counseling or other sensitive health services to the student they are evaluating.
