The application cycle for the fall 2022 program is now open.

The Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and Professional Studies Division of Pre-medical and Pre-health Programs offers an evening program to prepare individuals who wish to pursue a career in the health professions. This unique program allows an individual with a non-science baccalaureate degree the opportunity to continue his or her current career while fulfilling undergraduate prerequisite science courses for most health professional schools. Changing careers is often a very difficult decision for individuals to make. This program will help candidates transition into a new career by allowing them to maintain their current position while completing the prerequisite coursework for application to medical, dental, physician's assistant, veterinary or other health professional schools. This program is not eligible for federal financial aid.

"I knew I was going to need to work while completing the program, and Drexel’s PMED program is one of the few post-baccs that have evening classes, allowing you to work full time during the day [...] I was hoping to join a program where you could get to know the faculty and be in a smaller class size, which is the case with PMED." "The professors here are readily available and eager to help students learn. The small class sizes provide a very positive learning environment; even though our classes are primarily virtual, my classmates and I work well together and have had successful teamwork on our group labs." Read more.

Abigail McKnight, Drexel Post-baccalaureate Pre-medical Program, Class of 2022

Meet Abigail McKnight

"The disparity of health care in poorer countries, such as St. Vincent, sparked a new passion that simply grew over time. This energy was refocused into a desire to serve the community by becoming a doctor. After extensive research, I immediately gravitated to the College of Medicine’s post-baccalaureate pre-medical program. Their mission to assist underrepresented communities and increase involvement in the field of medicine aligned perfectly with my goals and aspirations." Read more.

Academic Advising

Gaining admission into a medical or other health professional school is very competitive. A student in the program must excel in the science courses. Free tutoring services are available on campus. In addition, applying to medical school is a very tedious and a time-consuming task. The director and dedicated administrator of the Evening Post-baccalaureate Pre-medical program are available to students within the program to assist with this endeavor.
