Discovery Day

Tuesday, October 23, 2018

Discovery Day is an all-day annual event of intellectual pursuit and discovery, which is organized to celebrate the basic and clinical research accomplishments of the graduate, medical and undergraduate students, clinical research coordinators, postdoctoral fellows, and residents affiliated with our college. The morning session is dedicated to individual poster presentations, which will be followed in the afternoon by platform presentations of selected abstracts. Both posters and platform presentations will be peer reviewed for recognition and awards.

Last year, over 400 posters were presented on topics as diverse as malaria, HIV/AIDS, infectious diseases, cancer, cardiology, transplantation, behavioral and cellular neurosciences, spinal cord injury, neuroengineering, Alzheimer's disease, autism, structural biology, proteomics and genomics, among others.

Students in the Interdisciplinary & Career Oriented Programs and Biomedical Science Programs within the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and Professional Studies were invited to attend an awards ceremony and reception the evening before Commencement. The event was held in the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University, with the reception concluding in the remarkable Dinosaur Hall!

Drexel Neurosciences Institute's Inaugural Neuroscience Conference

The Drexel Neuroscience Institute was pleased to present its Inaugural Neurosciences Conference in May 2016. The conference was designed to enhance the skills of physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals practicing in a variety of specialties including neurology, neurosurgery, emergency medicine, critical care, internal medicine, primary care and rehabilitation medicine. Topics highlighted the most recent advances and evidence-based practice in neuroscience patients empowering the care provider to more effectively manage complex neuroscience patients in clinical practice. Keynote speech "Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy" was presented by Dr. Bennet Omalu, neuropathologist who confronted the NFL to recognize and address concussions. His story inspired the movie "Concussion" starring Will Smith.

Careers Beyond the Bench - Thursday, November 3, 2016

Careers Beyond the Bench is a professional development conference that features accomplished speakers and panelists who discuss non-academic career options for graduate students and postdocs. The event includes a networking reception to give attendees the opportunity to learn more about non-academic career choices in an informal setting. The event takes place at Drexel University Campus.
