My Summer Co-op at WBD

Student on co-op posing as Barbie

This Barbie has had the most amazing summer working as a Talent Relations & Events co-op for HBO within Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) in New York City.

I have worked on some truly incredible projects, such as documentary premieres, Emmy events, and even a few Barbie parties! I am working with some of the industry's top event planners and talent coordinators, who have been kind enough to allow me to try my hand at all things talent and events. I have managed guest lists for premieres, booked talent travel for the Emmys, picked out birthday gifts for some of our top names, chosen florals and decorations for events, and oversaw red carpet processions.

Because of my academic experiences at Drexel, I feel I have made an impact on my team at HBO.

Besides the work, WBD has been a dream company to work for! They provide their co-ops and interns with the opportunity to create the most extraordinary memories — including cooking in the Food Network kitchen, outings to Yankee games, special screenings (including Barbie, The Flash, Shark Week, Meg 2, and Blue Beetle), meetings with the company's top executives (even the CEO), and every college student's favorite – tons of free swag!

I couldn't have achieved this co-op without the support and knowledge that the Entertainment and Arts Management program has given me. Our ongoing industry trends assignments and relevant coursework have set me apart from other interns — my managers actually ask me what is going on in the industry! My knowledge about the current strikes affecting the entertainment industry, relevant press writers, the history of the company and its recent business moves, industry practices, financial process, and entertainment as a whole has been an asset to my team.

Because of my academic experiences at Drexel, I feel I have made an impact on my team at HBO. This experience has been the perfect final co-op — I have learned so much, made so many new friends, and taken advantage of opportunities only Warner Bros. Discovery could offer. I truly could not have asked for a more perfect position at a more fitting company at a better time. And, I owe it all to the Entertainment and Arts Management program here at Drexel!
