From the Army to Drexel

After spending about five and a half years as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician in the US Army, I decided it was time for a change. I was not a great student in high school (mostly because I was vehemently opposed to doing homework), so the idea of going to college immediately after leaving the military was pretty daunting.

I found Drexel near the top of a list of the most veteran-friendly schools in the country, and was instantly sold when I found out about the great Construction Management program here. I don't usually gamble in any way, but I decided not to apply to any other schools and went all in with Drexel. My transition from the military to civilian life could have been incredibly difficult. With the help and support of a few faculty members who go above and beyond for veterans (Chris Young, Bryant Morris, and Rebecca Weidensaul), my transition was seamless and easy.

The learning atmosphere at Drexel has helped to give me the motivation to succeed like nothing else ever has.

Since arriving at Drexel, my experience has been amazing. I honestly expected that I would fall back into my old habits of avoiding homework and skipping class, but the exact opposite has happened. In three quarters so far, my lowest grade has been an A-, and a GPA of 3.95 is in stark contrast to my high school performance. The learning atmosphere at Drexel has helped to give me the motivation to succeed like nothing else ever has. With the help and support of Veteran Student Services, transitioning from the Army to Drexel has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, both personally and academically.
