Deactivate and reactivate a device in CrashPlan

Deactivate a device

If you don't use a device but it still appears in your CrashPlan active devices list or Backup Status Report, here's how to remove it:

  1. Go to console.us2.crashplan.com.
  2. Enter your Drexel email address, it looks like abc123@drexel.edu, and then select Sign In.
  3. You'll be redirected to Drexel Connect. Sign in with your Drexel account and verify your sign-in with multifactor authentication.
  4. Select Administration > Devices.
  5. Select the device you want to deactivate, to view the Device Details page.
  6. Select the Action menu icon , and then select Deactivate.
  7. You'll see a message warning you that the archive for this device will be deleted. Select I understand this device’s archive will be deleted, and then select OK.
  8. The device is immediately deactivated and the device's backup archives are placed into cold storage.

  Note: When you deactivate a device, it's backup archives are moved into cold storage for 90 days. When the cold storage retention period is over, the archives are marked for deletion and are not recoverable.

Reactivate a device

To reactivate a device in CrashPlan you previously deactivated, follow these steps:

  1. Go to console.us2.crashplan.com.
  2. Enter your Drexel email address, it looks like abc123@drexel.edu, and then select Sign In.
  3. You'll be redirected to Drexel Connect. Sign in with your Drexel account and verify your sign-in with multifactor authentication.
  4. Select Administration > Devices.
  5. Select Deactivated.
  6. Select the device you want to reactivate, to view the Device Details page.
  7. Select the Action menu icon , and then select Activate.
  8. The device is immediately reactivated and the device's unexpired backup archives are moved out of cold storage.
