Building Energy and Occupant Thermal Comfort Under Climate Change: Performance, Uncertainties, and Responses (PURe)
Hamed Yassaghi is currently a 4th year Ph.D. candidate in the Dept. of Civil Architectural & Environmental Engineering. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a master’s degree in Energy Engineering. His work is focused on climate change impacts on buildings concerning energy, health risks, and thermal comfort while considering their uncertainties. His efforts work through sustainability, resilience, adaptation, and mitigation within the built environment to advance climate-related policies.

Catching Bugs in Bugs, Or How to Study Digestion in Tiny Guts
Ben received his bachelor's degree in integrative biology and his master's degree in ecology and evolution in France. For his master thesis, he studied the ecology of tropical ants, evaluating the astonishing diversity of these insects in the Amazonian rainforest. He then started his Ph.D. at Drexel in 2017, joining the Russell Lab in the Biology Department to investigate the role of microbial symbioses in ants. More precisely, He uses a combination of molecular biology and bioinformatics tools to understand how gut microbes can facilitate the digestion of their host.
